I haven't dared to check that bassoon reference yet. Perhaps there are some things it's better not to know.
Fear not - it isn't one of those wartime naval expressions. It's an area of the brain, invented by Chris Morris for the drugs episode of Brass Eye.

Ah, yes it all comes back to me now. 'Brass Eye' seems a very long time ago now.
